Reserved Seats for Train from Salzburg to Prague

I booked tickets for a train from Salzburg to Prague on Trainline. We are travelling in early June. It looks like I have reserved seats on the Salzburg to Linz leg, but the second leg doesn't have reserved seats. I tried the OBB site, but I couldn't do seat reservations on the second leg. I could for the first leg. I tried Czech Railways, but couldn't seem to get just a seat reservation. It looks like I paid for reserved seats when I booked this with Trainline. Is a seat reservation needed ahead, or could I just do that at the train station?

Seat reservations are not required. On many trains they aren’t even possible.
Don’t overthink this. You have a ticket. You can travel.

What date and time are you traveling?

First of all, it is advisable to book train tickets directly from the respective rail operators, not from third-party resellers like Trainline.

Please give us your exact dates and train numbers. It depends on the type of train whether there are seat reservations available, usually only for long-distance express trains, not for local trains and city commuters.

Additionally, between May 1st and June 9th, 2026, there are track repair works on the route between Linz and Prague in the Czech Republic. Trains coming from Linz will terminate at the last station before the border to Czechia, and you will continue your trip by bus (rail replacement service) to Ceske Budejovice, where you board a train to Prague eventually. This implies major changes to the regular train schedule. See details here (in German only).

During that time period it is easier to go via Vienna to Prague. This adds about an hour to the ride, but has only one change.
