Rental Car with Limited Mileage Included

Some good deals. Normally I have unkimited mileage but these deals are including only 7,136 km. Will be driving for 7 weeks, Munich to Austria, around Austria ending in Vienna and then back to Munich.

Anyone ever log their weekly miles? Seven thousand should be enough. I will get out my distance calculator if no one has any idea of miles logged. Thanks.

That is only about 650 miles per week. That is not much.

Wouldn't it be less expensive for seven weeks to lease a car rather than rent?

Edit: Insurance and second driver are included in the lease price.
Credit card insurance has a time limit, something like up to 30 days and you pay extra for the second driver, if you need one.

Curious to know how the prices compare.

we usually lease a car for approx a month and have done about half that allowance. but then we deliberately plan the trip to only do a medium amount of driving. eg: in major cities we park the car ( often for days) and use the public transport. then use the car to move to the next base. where we usually plan to drive about 2-3 hours away. say 200kms. or very roughly 1000 per week.
so as a guess, It would typically suit how we plan our trips. if we did many more than that we would feel we have spent too much time in the car.
just use google maps or michelin to measure our route.
hope this helps.

Roughly calculated, Munich to Vienna and back is about 500 km each way. So you have about 6000 km allowance for driving around in Austria. With this amount you can drive nine times from the far east at the Hungarian border to the far west at Lake Constance.

I guess you should be fine. During your visit in Vienna you won't accumulate kilometers because using a car for sightseeing is a pain as well as a waste of time and money (e.g. you must pay for parking nearly everywhere).

Thanks everyone. I leased a car from Renault last year for a few months so it was worth it (they have a drop-off and pick-up charge of $210 each time in Munich so that one would not be worth it for a shorter trip). But for 5 months it was the best car deal I ever had (something in the low 20s per day).

What companies would you suggest for shorter leases and picking up in Munich?

we have found citroen to be the cheapest compared to renault and Peugeot for leasing, so worth checking. sometimes their deals include free ( or very cheap) drop off in another country.

On the back side of major credit cards there are discount codes for big rental car companies in fine print. I always compare the offers using the discount codes first before searching for smaller, and maybe cheaper companies.

I leased a car from ...

At least in Austria "leasing" and "renting" a car are two completely different things, both legally and financially.
