Rental car drop off Vienna- best choice

Could someone advise the easiest drop off for our rental car? We will then be staying in the "ring" for a few days.

Thank you!

Correct answer - 1VIENNA DOWNTOWN OFFICE KAERNTNER RING

This is right on the Ring.

I think you can handle it but if that sounds too hectic then I would do the train station (Hauptbahnhof).

The airport is too far away, Bregenz is a city bordering Switzerland, and Simmering is a bit out of the way.

I’m sure we can handle it ok. Then take a train to our hotel. Looks like about 15 min away.

Thank you!

Ok, so when you say train, you mean the Ubahn (subway) from Hauptbahnhof to your hotel?

I’m so ignorant Emily!

Whatever transportation takes us from our Hertz car drop off at KAERNTNER RING 17 and then getting to our hotel. It’s too far to walk with luggage, although my hubby could drop off luggage and me at the hotel before returning the car. On Google maps it said we could take public transportation from there to our hotel in about 15 minutes. So I hope that’s correct.

Oh, ok I follow you now. From the Hertz to your hotel you take either Tram (streetcar) 1 or 2. Google Maps works well here.

The challenge is not going to the hotel by by public transport from the car drop-off location, but driving there (Kärntner Ring 17). I had been there several times, but not because of a car, but spending time in the well-known Café Schwarzenberg which is in this building. The address is in the inner service lane of the Ring boulevard. I guess even locals have to think twice how to approach correctly. One-way streets in Vienna are confusing and annoying, deliberately though, to discourage people from using their car in the city center. You will have to follow the instructions of your navigation system exactly.

Yes! I’m certain you are right. It’s hard to understand the best drop off when you’ve never been there. But, even with a bit of stress we’ll find it and get it done.
