Thanks ! I'm a Klimt fanatic and the portraits from 1905 into the teens are fascinating , not in the least for the stylistic evolution they display . A wonderful; assessment of Klimt's work , and the events that informed it will be found in Carl Schorske's book on turn of the century Vienna . The essay " Gustav Klimt : Painting and the Crisis of the Liberal Ego " is exceptional - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fin-de-si%C3%A8cle_Vienna

I'm in Vienna right now, where I was attending a conference. I had some free time this afternoon and went to the Belveder, where there is a rather nice Klimt collection. They exceptionally had on display the second Adele Bloch-Bauer portrait, which is from the same period in Klimt's career. Was interesting to see this (and the other works of course...)
