Recommendation for B&Bs or 2-3* hotels in Salzburg?

My wife and I are planning to visit Salzburg for 4 full days in Early April and are looking for recommendations. We would like to get lower floor accommodations to minimize stair climbing and a host who can help point us plan local trips.

I am also looking for places to stay in Salzburg in May. Would like walking distance to Old Town and reasonable price.

Hotel Elefant and Hotel Weisse Taube are both well situated and reasonably priced.

We will be arriving by train so are looking for something fairly close to the train station/centrally located.
A relative mentioned Hotel Wolf i( I believe it is Hotel Wolf-Dietrich ) in Salzburg.
Anyone been there?

Train station is not in the old city if that is what you mean by centrally located. The Wolf-Dietrich is not next to the Hauptbahnhof, it is about a 15 min walk and about 7 min by taxi.

We stayed at the Hotel Stadtkrug on Linzergasse which is a five minute walk to the bridge that crosses the river to Old Town. The owner and staff are great, they can give you directions or ideas on places to visit and restaurants as well as their own.The rooms are clean and roomy and it comes with breakfast and they will make eggs the way you like.We enjoyed our stay there last May.

Why would you want to stay near the train station? This is not nearly as nice of an area as the historic center. As Salzburg is very small, you can easily take a taxi or bus from the station to your hotel. I never understand why people feel the need to stay near train stations....

Regarding Hotel Stadtkrug, has anyone ever heard or seen of a room category called "room buffet" (highest floor, next to the garden & mountain)? This category has been confirmed for us but cannot find any info about it...the skeptical side of me just makes me wonder...We are searching for that hidden gem of a small hotel or inn that is reasonably priced, charming, walking distance to the major sights and if it included parking, that would be a big bonus.

Stayed in Markus Sitticus last April and was delighted. Good location halfway between train station and fortress. Staff friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast.
