We will be spending several days in Vienna starting May 11 and would like to hire a Rick Steves quality guide for one of those days. Does anyone have a first hand recommendation?
From my own experience I can recommend:
Alexandra Stolba, very savvy in (local) history; contact her and specify your wishes and expectations.

Stefan Riedl has a very dynamic and witty style of presenting things, never boring.

Both speak English, of course. Their Internet pages are in German, though.
If your browser does not have a built-in translator you can add one to have German websites translated to English instantly.

Thank you for taking the time to respond in such detail!
@Kathy C:
You are welcome.
Should you hire one of the two (or any other guide) please share your experience in this forum.
I have arranged tours with Stefan. Thank you and I will share my experience.
Can only recommend Jan from WeGuide Vienna. He's a Norwegian art historian living in Vienna for the last decade. Extremely knowledgeable, excellent English, engaging, and a very interesting person!
Can anyone share what the typical cost was for a guide? TIA
I can tell you that I've been quoted 185 euro for a 3 hour tour in istanbul exclusive of entry tickets.
We just got back from Vienna and used Adrienn Bartek-Rhomberg for our family of five!

Here she is pictured with Rick Steves! He recommends her by name in his Vienna book. We really enjoyed our private tour with her. And she was great to dialogue back and forth with before the tour and to give us other tips.
