Hello.
I only have a day or two to decide
We are staying around Easter and are choosing between these two hotels. The Guesthouse location seems ideal but it looks really austere with no tv or amenity in rooms. Also not cheap, over 200 euros a night. The Vier Jahr seems a bit further out. A little bit cheaper but no idea if rooms are large and if it's any good. Both places have websites that don't show enough. Please advise if you have experience. We will be arriving by train and we are first time visitors. Thanks.
I stayed at Priesterseminar in June 2023. It is somewhat stark but so were the other 2 monasteries I’ve stayed at and the 2 I have scheduled for this year. All had en-suite bathrooms, were clean and comfortable. Breakfast is simple but adequate. I didn’t miss TV; local concerts and entertainment in the evenings were more enjoyable. Some have A/C, others don’t. Unless something has changed, this one doesn’t but does have a fan. It was cool enough that A/C wasn’t missed.
Location is great, easy walk to major attractions.
Book through their website for best rates and cancellation policies.
200€/night? I pulled up approximate dates as to when I stayed, €145/night now; €95/night then for a single room.
Thanks so much. I could see it being a good value at 145. But at 200 I think it's a bit much for such stark rooms. I'm sure the location is ideal though.
Room rates are much higher around Easter because there is the Salzburg Easter Festival ongoing, the second largest music event only topped by the Salzburg Summer Festival.

I've stayed at the Priest Seminary Guesthouse three times. I like it quite a bit. Rooms are indeed simple, but there is a nice common area with television (though no English channels as I recall). There can be a fair amount of street noise at night, but on my last stay, ear plugs were provided. The common area also has a washer and dryer if needed. A typical German breakfast is included. 200 euro seems like a lot, but I have to admit I'm a little surprised they have availability this close to Easter and as noted above, you are a little bit at the mercy of the market in Salzburg during this time.
I have no experience with the other hotel. It is a little farther from the Old Town, but not terrible. Both establishments have an 8.9 rating on Booking.com.
