Questions about Transit Zones around Salzburg and Regional Transit Passes

We are staying in Salzburg for 4 days in late May. We are staying outside of the central city in a rental near Grodig. We are planning on purchasing the Salzburg Card which allows for free public transportation within the core city and to a few of the places available to see with the card. I can see on the Salzburg transportation website that the Grodig area is outside of the city zone covered by the Salzburg Card and is in what is considered an overlap zone. I am having difficulty finding information to help me understand what transit pass would work for that area since we will be relying heavily on it to get around. Does anyone have experience with this?

Also, there are a couple of Salzburg transportation apps that area available - SalzburgMobil and Sbg Verkehr. Any opinions on which is most useful?

Thank you!
