Has anyone been to Vienna's Prater Winter Market. I am going to Vienna in December and I'm looking at going one evening. It appears to be more of an outdoor music festival, rather than a traditional Christmas Market. My go/no decision will be based primarily on the entertainment (details due in October) the evening I free-up to go. I value the views of those of you who have gone.
If for no other reason, I would go to ride the Ferris wheel.
I also like the ferris wheel. Have not been there for a Christmas market.
Iโve been multiple times as I visit every Christmas Market every year.
It is by far the worst one. Tacky and just people drinking alcohol. Nothing for sale.
Definitely skip.
Thanks for the feedback. I expected it was more alcohol oriented and tacky.
So, would Harry Lime have gone?
No. He would have gone to the Karlsplatz Adventure market.
No. He would have gone to the Karlsplatz Adventure market.
Good to know. I had already planned to visit that market on my first full day in Vienna. Then going to the Vivaldi concert in St. Charles Church that evening. SalmBrau in between for dinner and a beer, then a walk through Belvedere.
Thanks for your review of the markets from 2025!
... SalmBrau in between for dinner and a beer, ...
Salm Brรคu has become completely touristy, the beer is good, but the food is mediocre.
Add a few minutes of walking and go there:

Reservation is advised. Closed on Sundays and holidays.
Another choice for dining near Belevedere and Karlskirche is this one:

Admittedly, because of its large garden it is more appealing in summer.
Salm Brau, please no.
I live next to the Belvedere. Iโll send you the name of my local favorite.
