Places to visit in Salzburg for 3 days

Dear Friends

I will be visiting Salzburg for 3 days in the month of October.

Can you tell me the places which I must see / cover during my stay in Salzburg. Amongst others, I intend to see Lake Konigssee, Salt Mine and do the Eagle’s Nest Tour.

I intend to buy a Salzburg pass. Let me know, if that will be useful?

Kind regards

The Salzburg Card is useful if you're planning activities in the city Salzburg. Your list looks like you're not really taking advantage of being in Salzburg. Look up the Salzburg card on-line to see what is covered and if those interest you. We used it to see the fortress castle, the cable car, Mozart house, etc.

Of Rick's list we did the following during our winter (February) three days in Salzburg:

▲▲▲ Salzburg's Old Town Walk Old Town's best sights in handy orientation walk.
▲▲ Salzburg Cathedral Glorious, harmonious Baroque main church of Salzburg.
▲▲ Getreidegasse Picturesque old shopping lane with characteristic wrought-iron signs.
▲▲ Hohensalzburg Fortress Imposing castle capping the mountain overlooking town, with tourable grounds, several mini-museums, commanding views, and good evening concerts.

▲▲ The Sound of Music Tour Cheesy but fun tour through the S.O.M. sights of Salzburg and the surrounding Salzkammergut Lake District, by minibus, big bus, or bike. [Panorama Tour 1A]

▲ Mirabell Gardens and Palace Beautiful palace complex with fine views, Salzburg's best concert venue, and Sound of Music memories.
▲ Steingasse Historic cobbled lane with trendy pubs — a tranquil, tourist-free section of old Salzburg.

St. Peter's Cemetery Atmospheric old cemetery with mini-gardens overlooked by cliff face with monks' caves.
St. Peter's Church Romanesque church with Rococo decor.

PS. We didn't buy a Salzburg Card. We walked everywhere except for the funicular to the castle and the SOM tour. We didn't need transit.

Salzburg card also includes a trip on the cable car up Untersberg -- we took it and got a great view over some Alps, but you may see enough going to Berchtesgaden.
Card may not be necessary or cost-effective depending on how many of the sights you actually want to see and can fit in your schedule.

Two visits to Salzburg and we haven't taken the SOM tour, but we HAVE dined at Old Fox twice and think it's great.

You say you are going to spend three days in Salzburg, but the things you intend to see, Königssee, salt mine, and the Eagles Nest, are all in Berchtesgaden. Maybe you should stay in Berchtesgaden and take a day trip to Salzburg.
