We are looking for recommendations for a place to stay in Innsbruck. We don't need fancy, just comfortable and clean. We love the Rick Steves way, locally run BNB's.
I stayed last year at the Pension Stoi which sounds as if it's your kind of place - low-budget but comfortable. The only potential disadvantage is that the reception and rooms are on the upper floors of the building and there is no elevator.
If you’re open to staying outside of Innsbruck, we have stayed at the Gasthof Badl in nearby Hall in Tirol (RS recommendation) on six different trips, as recently as Dec 2024. The old town pedestrian zone is lovely, full of atmosphere and much less crowded than Innsbruck. We love strolling the old town after dinner. It’s a 15 or so minute bus or train trip away from Innsbruck.
You could also go to Mieders in the Stubaital. Its a 30 minute bus ride. Also Fulpmes and travel with the Stubaitalbahn. A one hour trip. Not necessarily B&B but I have stayed at Hotel Alpenstolz and Gasthof Gröbenhof. Both seem to have upgraded since our visit. Look around some. Never stayed here but had a coffee and a Bier at Gasthof Gramarthof. Would probably need the Hungerburg funicular to get there. Anyway options near but not in Innsbruck.
I also enjoyed Gasthof Badl, as well as Hall in Tirol.
