Pilgrimage to the Vienna Jewish Museum

I have just learned the the Ephrussi netsuke collection is going to be exhibited at the Jewish Museum of Vienna. November through March 8, 2020. The Hare with the Amber Eyes is one of my all time favorite books.
I am a 70 year old woman traveling from Amsterdam. I am a fairly seasoned traveler but I have not been to Vienna in a long time and never by myself.
I am planning on flying, but KLM isn't giving up any information for February
when I want to go. I know they have direct flights because I can see them if I plug in December dates.
Any information regarding Vienna, places to stay (100 - 150 euros/night), transportation from the airport into the city center (I'd like to stay near the museum) would be greatly appreciated.

It is worth noting that this exhibition is located in the Dorotheergasse location of the Jewish Museum, not the Judenplatz location. Also notable that the museums are closed on Saturday.

I'm sure that Austrian also has direct flight from AMS to VIE.

To get from the airport, you can take a pre-booked taxi for about 30 Euro (obviously the easiest). You can also take a train or a bus, but you'll need to schlepp around with your suitcases.

Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof and Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth are both very nice hotels in your price range generally and are very close to the museum.

Oh Kateja, what great news, I bet that exhibit is spectacular. I loved that book so much and to see the netsuke return to Vienna — wow.

Vienna is, I think, a visitor-friendly city. Good transport links, easy to get in from the airport, etc. I don’t have specific hotel recommendations — I think last time I went there I stayed in a hostel, even though I was in my 30s, because I was only there one night between staying with friends in Bratislava and heading on to Budapest. But I think you will enjoy your visit there very much.

Kateja, We were fortunate to visit Vienna in September. Wish we could have seen the Ephrussi netsuke collection. We stayed at the lovely Hotel Austria, just a 10 minute walk to the Museum. www.hotelaustria-wien.at

Thank you for mentioning "The Hare with Amber Eyes." I knew about the story but had not read the book. I am adding it to my book list.

Enjoy your pilgrimage.
