Hello! I’m planning a trip to Salzburg and the surrounding area in early September and working on a general itinerary right now. We will have a rental car and will be staying one night at the krippenstein lodge and plan to spend the morning of that day in Hallstatt, then taking the Dachstein cable car up in the afternoon to stay. My question is - would it be easier or nicer to park in obertraun and take the ferry over to Hallstatt? It seems like the ferry has the best view of the town! Or should we just park near Hallstatt and drive to the dachstein cable car parking later? Is there parking in Obertraun near where the ferry boards?

Google Maps, Obertraun, zoom in, type in 'parkplatz'. Looks like there are two parking areas.
The iconic shot of Hallstatt is Aussichtspunkt Hallstatt on the north side of town. The photos I took have a massive crane in the background.
