Overnight trip to Bratislava immediately before flying out of Vienna

Hello all:

I am going to be in Vienna for 3 nights and then to Berlin for 1 week to attend an event. In between these two, I have to find a place to stay at for one night. I am thinking of dropping off my luggage at VIE airport, taking the shuttle bus to Bratislava, staying there for one night before returning to VIE to fly to Berlin.

An alternative is to stay in Vienna or Berlin for an extra night. Yet, I am really tired of Berlin and have been to Vienna 3 times. So, I would like to explore Bratislava. My spouse is going with me, and he said that he's worried about missing the VIE-Berlin flight on the second day in Bratislava.

What do you think? How reliable is the shuttle bus? How is traffic like on that route?

Friends of mine found it just as easy to get to VIE from Bratislava and spent their last night there rather than day-tripping from Vienna.

We took the bus from Bratislava into Vienna's new train station ...

There is a bus going directly from Bratislava to Vienna International Airport (VIE).

Thanks. Is Road 9 (road linking VIE airport and Bratislava) a single-lane road? I am just concerned about delays due to traffic accidents.

It is very unlikely that the bus will go on road 9. The fastest connection between Bratislava and Vienna Int. Airport is via Autobahn (freeway) A6 and A4.

There are at least 5 different companies offering this bus service, not to mention taxis, car pool services, etc.
