We would like to leave our luggage in Melk, Austria overnight as we bike to Wiessenkirchen / stay overnight and then bike back to Melk the next day.. I understand the luggage lockers at the train station in Melk only allow 24 hours. Do we have any other options? (unable to carry them on our bikes). Thank you -hope this can work somehow. Carol

We've had similar situations ski touring in Scandanavia. We book accommodations at the same hotel before and after the tour. The Norwegian and Finnish hotels have left luggage rooms that allowed us to store our city gear and extra stuff including our ski box. You should check with your pretour accommodation regarding luggage storage as a prebooking condition.

If you will sleep in Melk on either end of the trip, then your hotel should happily hold the bags. If not, a hotel might do it for money. But I also don't believe that the train station lockers have a 24-hour limit, just a 24-hour price. Most train station lockers are now computerized to charge the appropriate rate for your stay.

I will check with the Melk train station--hope there is an easy way to do that_- that would make leaving luggage simple since our schedule does not work to stay overnight in Melk . It also makes it easier than back and forth to hotel from the train station. Thank you Laura for the suggestion. Carol
