A friend is leaving for a Danube tour soon. About 50 years ago as a child, she visited a museum in Vienna that contained original scores of many of Vienna's classical composers. I found the Haus der Musik, but it opened in 2000, so clearly it wasn't the musum she visited. Does anyone know if that museum still exists and what it's name is if so?
TIA,
Gene Z.
In all likelihood , the Austrian National Library in the Neueburg section of the Hofburg on The Heldenplatz is what she is looking for . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austrian_National_Library
In front of the National Library (the Hofburg) is the statue of Prinz Eugene, as he is known in English, the Habsburgs most successful military commander in the history of their dynasty. The Heldenplarz starts with the statue of the Archduke Charles, on the opposite side of Eugene.
