We are traveling to Vienna as part of a cruise. I would love to see an Opera while I am there. I would have to be back at the boat by 11ish? Is this possible? Any recommendations?

Viennese State Opera website
Depends on the opera. Some are 2 1/2 hours. Others, like Wagner can be 5 hours with intermissions. Look at what is showing on your travel dates.

We'll be there on a river cruise, and wanted to see an opera, so we opted for the cruise opera excursion. We'll pay more, but it will include transportation to/from the boat, and we know for sure we won't miss the boat. Something to consider.
We are traveling on Viking and they don’t offer an Opera excursion unfortunately.
I think it depends on the exact date that you will be in Vienna. I hope it works out for you. I would suggest that you spring for the best available seats you can afford.
Thank you!
Can you share the date that you plan to do this?
We will be in Vienna on April 16th 2026. Any ideas on operas there?
The Volksoper is doing Die Fledermaus 19:00 to 22:15.
