This Saturday, October 4, the national alarms in Austria will be tested between 12:00-12:45. Those in Austria will hear several rounds of sirens. Phones may also receive a test alarm message. No need to be alarmed.
Emily, I happen to own a registered certified bomb shelter in Budapest (long story). So, if you feel threatened, please come be my guest.
How kind to let folks know!
We recently rented a car in Yorkshire, England. About an hour into the drive, we were heard a loud buzz that lasted about 10-20 seconds coming from the dashboard of the car.. We checked for indicator lights. It went off about every 2-3 or so minutes. Finally, I thought I'll google the make of the car to maybe identify the issue. When I picked up my phone, there were a bunch of alerts, they were testing the emergency system. The buzz was coming from my phone and not the car.
I was on a Scottish ferry a little over three weeks ago when there was a test of the emergency systems. Phones all over the ferry started alarming.
Frank, I wonder if we both had the same alarm?
Yep, there was only one alarm testing done, on a Sunday afternoon if I remember correctly..
The UK alarm was Sunday, 7 September at, if I remember correctly, 3 PM.
We were in Munich's Marienplatz waiting for the 11am glockenspiel when the Oktoberfest bomb scare was broadcast. Everyone was holding their phones up to video when they all lit up with the alarm. Well done Germany!
We will be arriving in Salzburg around the time of the alarm test. Thanks for the heads up.
We were in Leutasch on Oct 4, hiking, and sure enough...my husband's phone began to buzz and flash..mine, too. We were in the know!
