OBB vs RegioJet for Vienna to Prague?

Similar departure times and travel time, same fare class (First and Relax), but OBB is more than three times the price of RegioJet. Should I be wary of RegioJet?

Internet searches suggest that RegioJet is less reliable and uses older equipment. Has anyone traveled on both or have any experiences to share?

Thanks!

I too Regiojet between Vienna and Brno and then Brno and Prague. Two different days but the same train number. This was last month and earlier this month, respectively.

I traveled in first class. I chose seats in the "quiet" car as I llike quiet.

Both trips were enjoyable. On one, while the "noisy" car was busy, there were only three of us in the "quiet" car. Water was handed out and if you wanted something to eat or drink you could either go to the "dining" car or order from your seat.

It was comfortable, the wifi worked well, and if I remember correctly, only one was a few minutes late.

Traveling in first I also got to use the Regiojet lounge. Not much to write home about but quieter and they had free coffee and tea.

Thank you so much for your prompt response. Glad to hear you enjoyed an uneventful journey!

I did not notice a quiet car while booking so I will try to see if I can find that notation. Thanks again.

Regiojet does not run as often, so if one of their trains is cancelled, or you miss it, you cannot just hop on another train and hour later, as you can with ÖBB/CD

When looking for prices also look at CD, they are often cheaper than ÖBB, for the same trains. See www.cd.cz

I booked the Regiojet on the CD app.

To find the "quiet" area 0you have to look for the cellphone icon with the line throughit on the seating chart.

Thank you WengenK and Frank II. I am new to this forum so have not yet figured out if there is a way to reply to each of you directly, but I want to thank you both for your help.

I think I may just cross my fingers and hope that the RegioJet is not cancelled, as the few hundred euro I can save on the three tickets could pay for a nice meal!

I now see the quiet symbol for the train so thank you for pointing that out.

I took RegioJet from Budapest to Vienna a bit over a year ago - in the equivalent of a first class car - it was absolutely fine. People I had been chatting with on the platform were in business or executive class, which is a compartment with just four oversized seats - looked very nice. The second-class cars were packed, so it appears to be a favorite for value-conscious locals.

Thanks markcw! Bus class is either not offered or sold out on the train I booked, so I happily chose three seats in First.

Thanks everyone for all of your help.
