We are spending the holidays in Vienna and would love to get advice on where and how and celebrate the arrival of 2023.
We prefer to have a more authentic experience, such as a dinner at a locally favored place with live music and, hopefully, some dancing. While there are balls and more grand events (which are rather expensive), we would prefer an evening that does not necessarily require a taxedo and a long ballroom gown.

No place does New Year's Eve better than Vienna. Spent New Year's Eve in 2017, 2018 and 2019 in Vienna. Would have done 2020 but for the Covid lock-down. We will be spending New Year's Eve in Vienna again this year, 2022. In my opinion, the best place for New Year's Eve in Vienna is the Rathaus plaza. Great food, entertainment and atmosphere.

After being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID it is expected that the traditional "New Year's Eve Trail" (Silvesterpfad) will take place again this year. It is the event on December 31 in Vienna.
