More advice needed for extended stay return to Vienna after 45 years. On our first trip to Vienna (10 days), we ate 5 dinners at a neighborhood restaurant near Schoenbrunn where I had Wiener Schnitzel 5 straight nights. This was the real thing, a thin piece of veal pounded out so big that there was barely room for it on the plate. The sides-- boiled potatoes, a lemon, and green beans-- came each on a separate little dish. I'll probably go back to see if its still there, but in case its not, How about some recommendations for real Wiener schnitzel-- Kalb (veal), not Schwein (pork).

If you like it that way - that thin, i.e. more breading than meat - go to this place, very crowded though:

A bit thicker meat you will get here:

But my favorite place is this one - IMHO best taste -, although not known particularly for Wiener Schnitzel, but for excellent cuisine in general:

Note that the Figlmueller only serves veal at their Bäckerstraße location, not at Wollzeile.
My personal favorite is Huth Gastwirtschaft.
