I will be in Vienna in early December. My daughter and I are going to Krakow, then Vienna for the Christmas Markets. We have an overnight trip planned to go to Budapest to their Christmas markets, but apparently they have been cancelled for political reasons. https://dailynewshungary.com/no-christmas-market-for-budapest/.

Salzburg has some lovely markets
Just FYI Krakow has a fantastic Christmas Market in the Main Square, the largest medieval town square in Europe. Poland actually has quite a tradition of Christmas Markets, may want to add another charming city in Poland since you are already in the country:

I had considered Salzburg, but would that not be almost the same as Vienna? I was looking for something different. Perhaps Bratislava?

Aren't there other markets in Budapest besides the one at Vorosmarty Square that was cancelled? I'd do some research on that before I gave up on Budapest.
Okay, I found an update for Budapest, and its not bad.
The group that does the Basilica Christmas Market is taking over the Vorosmarty ter market and if they do as good a job at Vorosmarty as they have at the Basilica it will be good.
