MUST DO, if you are in Austria ( report)

a fellow RS contributor suggested we stay in Ramsau am Dachstein. so we are here now!
we have had a great stay. today we did the zipline, nearby to Ramsau, WHAT A BLAST!!!
http://www.zipline.at/en
then we drove the short distance to the Der Dachstein, cable car, ice cave etc. ( far better than we have seen anywhere)

we have done a few similar mountain experiences, in other nearby countries, but this is definitely at the top of the list.
and using the 'summer card' supplied by our accomodation gave us great discounts.

a lot of people are often looking for somewhere away from the usual crowds etc, well for us ( at this time of year) is was a fantastic experience.

Hey Glenn,

Glad to hear the weather must have cooperated. We also thought, after doing many cable car trips in Austria, Bavaria, Dolomites and Switzerland, that Der Dachstein was at the top of our list now. It's Dachstein though, just for the readers of your post.

thanks paul for the correction. while the weather could have been better, it did not stop us enjoying ourselves.

Wow, that looks amazing! Glenn how cold was it up there today?

Also, is it hard to understand what to do if you don't speak German?

The zip line is insane!!! We loved it!! Once you get up the mountain there is only one way down :-)

Glad you are loving it! We also did paragliding in Austria....gorgeous there! And not many tourists in Dachhstein. Have fun!!

BTW- I recall we were 500 feet off the ground and going up to 80 mph, if I remember right, and cold! You are high up on a mountain going all the way down! Quite a thrill!

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thank you for posting about this! Paul previous recommended this area and we have changed our plans to go here instead of what we had previously. Also of note, we are going to do the almabtrieb! I'm excited for that!

NOW....lodging recommendations for the area?

Thanks all!

They do have a few cats at the Pension Haus Maria. Just in case someone in your family has an allergy. They don't bother guests at all.
