My husband and I are visiting Salzburg from Aug 31- Sep 4 and Vienna from Sept 4 -7. Are there any must watch shows or musicals that can be recommended for us to attend?

Vienna offers classical music concerts and their world famous opera.
Salzburg has Sound of Music tours but you should write your hotel for any concert information during your stay.

My wife, my daughter and I attended the Mozart Dinner Concert at Baroque Hall Stiftskeller St. Peter Restaurant in April. I was hesitant to book it thinking it would be a touristy rip-off. I was pleasantly surprised to have a wonderful time. The food is good (not great) but the musicians were terrific and seemed to really enjoy interacting with the audience. The venue was beautiful and the service was good. The experience was one of the highlights of our trip.
Do not be put off by reports of being gouged for drinks at the dinner. Just choose carefully and you will be fine.

In Salzburg, we attended a concert in the Mirabelle Palace. I believe they have a concert almost every evening, however the artists change. It was a beautiful setting; casual dress was acceptable; as I recall, it was not expensive. I booked via the internet; a Google search would probably bring up the site.
