Music tour in Vienna

We are going on the Berlin-Prague-Vienna tour in September and plan to add a few days in Vienna after the tour ends. Does anyone know of a guided "music tour?"

Given your characterization of the term " music tour " I am assuming your don't mean performances , but places to visit that hold an importance in the musical culture of Vienna . If so , try some of these . - The plot of composer's graves in the Zentralfriedhof ( central cemetery ) You can get there by taking the U3 from town to Simmering and then the #71 tram to the cemetery . ( or the tram all the way from Schottentor close to the University ) They have a saying in Vienna , that when someone dies " they took the 71 " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Central_Cemetery In the north of town in Heiligenstadt is the Beethoven Museum on Probusgasse When he lived there , the sixth ( pastoral symphony ) was composed there https://www.wienmuseum.at/beethoven_museum_en You can walk from there to Grinzing ( stop at Nobauer's for coffee and torte beforee visiting the Grinzing cemetery just behind the church , where you will encounter the grave of Gustav Mahler ( I'm a Mahler fanatic , and always visit when I'm in Vienna ) Mahler's wife , Alma is buried close to him and her story is quite a tale of its own ( her daughter , Manon is buried with her , and Alban Berg dedicated his violin concerto to Manon . In Hietzing , on the U4 line you will find Dommayer's ( now run by Oberlaa ) where both Johann Strauss senior and his son ( The Waltz King ) had their initial successes ( the coffee and pastry there is also exceptional https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caf%C3%A9_Dommayer

I almost forgot this - I always stay in this hotel on my frequent stays in Vienna https://www.classic-hotelwien.at/en/about-us/we-introduce-ourselves/ and in addition to it being one of my favorite places to stay in Europe , this was the birthplace and home of the composer Max Steiner ( " Casablanca " . " Gone With the Wind " and many others ) there is a small museum installation there about him and the Max Steiner bar for a nostalgic rest . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Steiner
