I just returned from 2 weeks in Salzburg and Vienna . Wonderful time in both. I had wondered about where to find some great music in each, so wanted to let this forum what I found. In Salzburg I went to a concert in Mirabell Palace. It was in a beautiful room and the price for front row seats was well worth it. There were 2 violins, a viola, cello, bass and some form of piano - they were all historic instruments and the musicians were just wonderful. They played Mozart and Vivaldi with a guest violinist for the Vivaldi! I highly recommend it. I also went to an organ concert in Salzburg Cathedral. It's only 6e which includes the entrance, so well worth it. The interior of the church is amazing - there are 4 small organs and 1 large one, and each are played. In Vienna I went to a string quartet concert in St Peter's church. Again the interior of the church is magnificent and the concert was delightful. Being April, it wasn't too cold as people had noted earlier. Also highly recommend. Also in Vienna I went to an orchestra concert at Musikverein. It's a beautiful hall - big and ornate with crystal chandeliers and lovely painted ceilings. The orchestra was dressed in Mozart era costumes and they were good. There were some opera pieces and when they played the Blue Danube Waltz you just wanted to get up and dance! I felt like I had enjoyed some wonderful music at all of them!! sue
Thank you for reporting to us!
Thank you for the report. Where did you find the tickets in each city? It sounds lovely!
Wonderful! My 11 yr old and I are attending the Viennese orchestra concert in Musikverein, performers in histoprical costumes, we are looking forward to it! Do you recall if the performance was in Brahms Saal or in the Golden room? Thanks!
I think my performance was in the golden room (large concert hall) and I got my tickets directly from each website. The Salzburg Cathedral is every day and you just buy your ticket when you walk up. I hope you enjoy them!
