Munich-Salzburg-Vienna day trips

Hey there, need some help with itinerary/day trips. We're going in late June and the plan is: Munich 3 nights. Drive to Salzburg - 2 nights. Drive to Vienna - 3 nights. Drive back to Munich - 2 nights before departing.
I was thinking going to Hallstatt from Salzburg for a day trip, but Im reading and I'm wondering if we should skip it and go to Berchtesgaden/Konigssee/Obersse instead and possibly do a hike. (we are traveling with our two boys aged 5 and 7)
We will be renting a car so transportation is not an issue. It's so close to Salzburg that it seems like a shame to not go. On the other hand, it also seems like a shame to not go to Hallstatt.

One more thing, do you guys think it's too insane to go to Italy for a day? Possibly, Tarvisio, Udine or Trieste? If so, do we need a vignette when crossing into Italy?

Thank you!

I can only help with your last question. Italy does not use vignettes. If you are on a toll road, you take a ticket at the entry, and when you get off the toll road, you turn in your ticket, which allows them to calculate the toll owed. If you know the New Jersey Turnpike (before Easy Pass), it's the same system.
