Scheduled to see Mozart concert in Salzburg at St Peters. Should I also see one in Vienna? Or are there any recommendations of a different type of classical concert or other music event to see? We are in Vienna for 4 nights so we do have plenty of time. One night we plan to go to the Haus der Musik and one night we plan to see Schonbrunn as well as its Xmas market. There is a Xmas concert there which we could do too.
Google Christmas concerts in Vienna, lists concerts, dinner concerts, lippizana horses, operas. Also has some listings for Salzburg
Why Mozart concerts? I suggest the Silvester: Strauss Festival Orchester Wien concerts at the Konzerthaus, which will happen on your dates, or Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at Karlskirche. See real music not tourist trap shows (although the Four Seasons is slightly touristy). Search events here - https://events.wien.info/en/
Also, try to at least do one more market open on your dates.
Classical music events you can find here: https://www.classictic.com/en/sitesearch/?search=Wien
Thanks for the links Emily and Wmt1. They will be handy as I plan June trip.
To me, the best place in Vienna to see a classical music performance is the Musikverein. The Great Hall is recognized as one of the best concert halls in the world and is decked out in 19th century Habsburg glory.
In addition to all the wonderful recommendations, if in Vienna on a Sunday we enjoyed a concert at Augustinian Church at 11:00 am. We were there in 2019. Enjoy your stay! https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj644nVxff7AhX6MDQIHau3Dp0QFnoECBUQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ricksteves.com%2Fwatch-read-listen%2Fread%2Farticles%2Fsunday-morning-viennastyle&usg=AOvVaw2nmModTjNN-JCGObHKxK2m
wherever you go in the world, someone will be performing the Four Seasons in a church. apparently it's a UN law or something.
