My son and I will be on the My Alpine Way tour on June 25, 2025. He is interested in seeing the marionette show and listening to some Mozart. There is a marionette show of Mozart's Magic Flute. Unfortunately, it is only on the night that the tour starts. It is at 7:30 pm, close to our hotel. I don't want to miss any of the "meet and greet" that night. Does anyone have a suggestion? This is my first My Way tour so I don't have a sense about how long the "meet and greets" usually go. Barbara
Your meet and greet is at 5pm. Definitely get tickets for the show. I've never done this specific tour, but with the 3 we've done, (all tour guided; one included Salzburg) they've been about an hour to 1- 1/2 with a quick orientation around the neighborhood. And of course, you can leave when you need to leave. After the meeting, you are on your own anyway for dinner and a free evening, so don't miss the marionette show that your son is interested in.
For full reassurance reach out to the Rick Steves office. They can give you specifics.
You will definitely have time after the meet and greet to make the 7:30 show. We didn’t go to the marionette show but the absolute best music we heard was at the Mozarteum University. We went and watched student recitals one evening and it was absolutely incredible. And it’s free. There’s an indented kind of courtyard entrance and the recitals are downstairs on the lower level once you are inside the building. There should be a schedule on their website. Enjoy the My Way Alpine tour! It was an amazing experience.
I don't know what is a meet and greet, but I would skip almost anything to see again the marionette Magic Flute. It is unbelievable.
