Can anyone suggest a route that will allow us to drive around the best scenery/mountains we can view while driving to Salzburg? Since is not a very long drive we planned to go a little further to be sure we get the most in on the drive. Thanks

My favorite one is: Innsbruck - Landeck - Niederndorf - Aschau in Chiemgau and then the motorway to Salzburg. But also Innsbruck - Wörgl - St. Johann in Tirol - Lofer - Bad Reichenhall - Salzburg is not bad (and it is the shortest possibile itinerary).

The E45 through Jensburg (for the castle) then to Kufstein (for the fortress). The 173 to get back on 178 taking you to Germany. Once across the border, dip down to Berchtesgaden or straight through to Bad Reichenhall then Salzburg.
