Most Beautiful Views - need help

Hi,
I will be in Saltzberg for only 1 day. I know I can't see all of these below, however, can you recommend the few that I should cover which have the most beautiful views with sea, mountains, landscape.
Mondsee, Austria
Wolfgangsee Lake
Zwölferhorn- cable car
Hallstätter See
Berchtesgaden - city - a bit far

Berchtesgaden - city - a bit far

What do you mean, a bit far. Of the places you mentioned, Berchtesgaden is probably the closest to Salzburg. Mondsee is a bit farther, but not nearly as scenic. Using the bus, RVO 840, the Waltzmann Express, it takes only about ¾ hour to get to Berchtesgaden Hbf from downtown Salzburg (Mozartsteg).

Personally, Salzburg is not my favorite spot in Europe. I wouldn't choose Salzburg for a one day visit, but if you are already there, there are still plenty of interesting things to see in Salzburg (just don't get sucked into the granddaddy of all tourist traps, an SOM tour). On your own, tour the fortress Salzburg or Mirabell Palace, scene of the do-re-mi steps from SOM (it's in town, easy to get to, and free; no overpriced tour needed).

If you want scenic, take the bus to Berchtesgaden and take a boat ride from Schönau on Königssee (go all the way to the end at Salat and over to the Obersee) and go up to the Eagles Nest (Kehlsteinhaus). If the weather is clear, the view from Kehlstein is spectacular.

Hallstatt is probably the most beautiful place you can go to, but it takes over two hours to get there. If I had several days I'd do it and stay overnight, but for a day trip, it takes a little too long to get there.

Based on the scenery we saw from the train, I'd probably choose Traunkirchen over Hallstatt, if natural beauty is your goal. The mountain views there were stunning. Traunsee is to me a prettier lake than Hallstaetter See. We didn't pass Wolfgangsee on the train, so I obviously can't comment.

I've posted elsewhere that I found Hallstatt somewhat disappointing. It's to me analogous to vinyl records: popular partly because of how inconvenient it is.

I’ve been to Salzburg before, I am traveling with my brother who only wants to spend 2-3 hours in the city. He does want to see a view or 2.

Perhaps we can do Mondsee and Wolfgangsee or it’s better to go to Zwölferhorn cable car?
We will have a car btw.
