Mobile SIM / Data SIM for Austria

Hi all,

I am visiting Austria (Vienna, Salzburg, Hallstat) and Prague for 15 days. I would be travelling from India and carrying my India mobile handset. However, would not be using it considering the exorbitant calling and data charges with my incumbent operator.

Please let me know the options to get a local SIM with incoming free and data for skype calls. Also, can the number be also used on roaming in Prague.

My usage would be incoming calls from India, data for outgoing skype calls, whatsapp messages and local maps / directories search

You need to ensure your phone works on the GSM system, and is unlocked. I don't know what system phone's use in India, but, if it isn't GSM, yur phone won't work in Europe, even if you use your current provider.
All SIM cards in the EU work in all EU countries, with a small surcharge for "roaming".
If you get an Austrian SIM, it will have an Austrian phone number. Anyone ringing you from India will have to dial an Austrian number and pay for the call to Austria. And, you won't know the number until you buy the SIM (the number will be marked on the envelope containing the SIM), so you can't tell people in India your number until you are in Austria.
Incoming calls will be free for you in Austria. There will be a small roaming charge for incoming calls when you are in other countries.
