Mirabell Palace or Hohensalzburg Fortress?

Do you recommend one over the other?
Is one venue more Covid-preventative than the other?

Thanks. Looking forward to world-class music performances in Salzburg.

Is one venue more Covid-preventative than the other?

What??
They will both be indoor concerts. Pick the one with the music you prefer. If you're worried, wear a mask.

Yes, my son and I plan to wear masks. And not book the concert - dinner combination.

Your familiarity with seating density, building ventilation, etc?

I currently know more people sick with Covid than at any other point in the past 2 years. (Washington Olympic Peninsula and Seattle area.) Toddlers, pregnant woman, elderly, neighbors, all the deli workers at my favorite store, etc. I’m looking to minimize my Covid risk as possible, because I need to test negative to join my tour, and then negative to fly home.

Thanks for your input.

Just went to the dinner and concert at the Fortress in April. The tables at the dinner had a decent amount of space between them. The concert was in another room downstairs, with about twelve rows of seats. I didn't really see any windows open for ventilation. Overall, the experience was great, and at intermission one could go outside and view the lights of Salzburg at night. Safe travels!

Thanks Pat! Did you by any chance go to Mirabell too? Or just the Fortress? Was one concert enough, or would you have attended both if you had ample time?

Sorry, no time for the concert at Mirabell- just visited the beautiful gardens!

We loved the ambiance of the Golden Hall in the Hohensalzburg Fortress and the concert was outstanding. When we were there they had the windows open for a lovely breeze. I think that the Fortress concert is in a smaller more intimate setting with fewer people than the Mirabell Palace concert. The Mozart concert at the Fortress was a highlight of our trip and worth flying across the ocean for!

A friend and I did the fortress dinner and concert 3-4 weeks ago. Dinner was socially-distanced... the concert not so much... but it was excellent. As noted above, the ambience of the Golden Hall is great. Musicians are top notch.

The windows were open, but there was not much ventilation. I was in the front row and chose not to wear a mask, though I otherwise was pretty cautious with respect to mask wearing during the trip (like in the funicular going up to the fortress). Tested negative at the end of the trip!

I have been to concerts in neither location. That said, masking in Austria is no longer required (except in a few places in Vienna) and life is pretty much back to normal here. At either concert, prepare yourself to be sitting right next to many people without masks. COVID preventative measures are a thing of the past here.
