hello,
we will be using the metro in Vienna from the north western part of old city to the main train station. We will be using it on a monday morning between 06:30 and 07:00. Since we will have luggage with us, how crowded is the metro during that time? Will having our luggage with us be an issue? thank you

Should not be a big problem. The real rush hour starts a bit later. The biggest troublemakers are the pickpockets. Be very careful, especially when being concentrated on your luggage somebody may steal your wallet, smartphone, etc.

From my (sad) experience the most dangerous moment is when a bunch of people tries to enter the car at the same door. The pickpockets are in the scrum, take what they can get, and then stay outside on the platform, pretending that they could not get in.
