Anyone know if the Melk-Krems cruises are operating? I've heard news reports that low water is affecting boat traffic. I checked websites for Brandner and DDSG but nothing there. Thanks.
contact some local TIs
I heard back from Brandner. Their response "now the situation of the Danube river already get back to normal".
We also reached out to the Tourist Info office but, so far, no response from them.
Our cruise is about four weeks off and we will monitor.
Kenny,
My son and I took this cruise on a combo ticket we purchased at the train station in Vienna. We bought the tickets from a manned office a few minutes before the train from Vienna to Melk. Unless you already bought your tickets, you can wait to see what the situation is once you are there. Just have a backup plan for that day.
We were there a few days ago and saw both overnight type river cruise boats and also day trip boats running. Enjoy your trip!
I was on this cruise during the Best of Munich, Salzburg and Vienna tour. It was a beautiful time and the food offered on board was delicious. Full bar too. I hope you have a great time.
Hi, I received a response from Austria's National Tourist office,
"As far as we know, the ships operate normally. We are not aware of any impairment.
In addition, we also checked the websites of the DDSG and Brandner. Nothing is mentioned here either.
For information in detail you can contact the companies directly."
So, looks like our September day cruise is a go. We heard news reports that Danube water levels were down five feet and were affecting shipping traffic. But the reports didn't say exactly where. Assuming the situation remains fluid.
Thanks for your responses.
