Hello! We will be in Vienna and Salzburg the first week of April and are curious about the weather this time of year. I know it's impossible to predict, but we are hoping for a general idea so we can pack properly (planning on a single carryon pack for each family member).

Since you say the first week of April I would average the March and April numbers so Vienna 56F / 39F and Salzburg 56F / 37F
We were in both cities at that exact time a few years back, and did carry-on only. The weather alternates between winter and spring. One day is beautiful, and the next one was cool, windy, and rainy. My packable down jacket was perfect, along with a full length packable raincoat, in addition to my layers of tops. The nights were a bit brisk. And of course, you should buy a scarf there, a needed cold- weather accessory, and treasured souvenir. Although we had a great time, I did miss the leaves on the trees and the gardens in bloom.

Just returned. It was cold there. Two shirts, vest, puffy jacket neck warmer, hat and gloves. Rained a few times. Snowed once. That said, we flew out of Vienna on Friday and it was warm, sunny and glorious. So - layers.

It is usually between 10-20 during the day, but it is often rainy or windy. If it is sunny, it is pleasant for sightseeing.
