Lodging in Vienna / Transportation

I see many different areas to stay in Vienna, and many of them seem to be listed as neighborhoods. I am travelling there in July, and would like to see as much as possible for the 3-4 days we are there. We are going to Ernst Hoppel on July 18, but other than that, we will just be sightseeing. Is there an area where two women travelling should avoid in terms of lodging? What areas are recommended for $100 night? Is that realistic for a decent place?

Have a look at booking. com for hotels. You can set filters for budget and location. I see many hotels with better than average ratings in your price range. Read the reviews of hotels that interest you. What I like is that you have to have actually stayed at a hotel to leave a review on that site. Personal preference, perhaps, but the closer to the Ring Road and the Inner Stadt, the better from a tourist POV.

Just to be precise: The venue of the Bruce Springsteen concert is called Ernst Happel Stadion or Wiener Praterstadion.
To get there take subway U2 (purple line) to station Stadion.

Vienna is a very safe city. It is no problem to walk on the streets or using public transport in the night.
For practical reasons it is best to stay in one of the inner city boroughs (1 to 9). Important is to have access to public transport close to your hotel.

Here is a little folder, targeted at short-time visitors. On pages 2 and 3 it gives you a good overview of the main sights in Vienna, suggesting two walks in the city center. (Ignore page 4 which is not up to date, as this folder has not been reprinted since 2020 due to Corona times without tourists in Vienna.)

That would be a stretch, especially if you want to be close to the city center and along the U-2 line. $100 per night per person and you will have lots of choices. Many hotels are booked up already as The Boss is in town, so book something soon.

If you provide your exact dates, then I’m happy to search on booking.com and give you some recommendations. That said, I hope you mean $100 per person. I would add that all neighborhoods have crappy and nice hotels, so it has nothing to do with location as Vienna is a safe, compact city with great public transportation. There are, however, prettier areas.
