We will be spending a couple of days in Durnstein in September and need leads on good lodging in or around town. Any good ideas?
We really loved the Stockingerhof...right in the middle of the vineyards, Peter and his wife are great, wunderbar breakfast and very fine winegarden.

Thank you for the info on Stockingerhof B&B. It looks great and we intend to stay there.
Say hello to their Jack Russell terrier. Durnstein is great in the evening after all the tourists have left. Make sure to hike to the castle ruin above the village. It is said this is where Richard Lion-Heart was held for ransom by the Duke of Austria. You will be there during the time Sturm is available (the new wine. Enjoy that and the other wines found in the Wachau, also the apricot brandy and schnapps produced in the region.
