Late Night Transportation Salzburg to Munich

Hi everyone,

On 19th May my wife and I will be taking a daytrip to Salzburg from Munich. She was interested in attending the dinner concert at the Fortress. I contacted the ticket office, and they said the concert would end around 22:00. I have 2 questions:

1) Is an hour a reasonable amount of time to get back to the Hbf to catch the 23:00 train back to Munich?
2) Are there any other late night options available? I did some searching on the forums and Google, but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks!

Bahn.com says its the 11:00 p.m. or wait until 4:27 a.m.

An hour is doable. You have to take the funicular down to street level, so you'll want to get at the head of the crowd leaving. Once on the street you could walk (about 25 min), take a bus, or hail a taxi.

Thanks for the quick responses. Eric, I did see that on bahn.com. I just wanted to know if there were any other options I wasn't thinking of. CJean, thanks for the information.

You may try blablacar, an online marketplace for car pools. However, there is no guarantee that a vehicle will be available at the desired time.

Anyway, if you leave Hohensalzburg on time you can make it to the station on foot (ca. 25min). Besides, there are buses at 22:23 and 22:28 covering the distance in approx. 20 min.
