Stt. Wolfgang im Salzkammergu is very touristic. Not the most beautiful, but something to consider in the region. Not sure about the train/boat to get there. There is the Schafbergbahn nearby too
Go to Obertraun which is just past Hallstatt and take the tram up to Dachstein and Five Fingers and the Ice Caves with beautiful views of the lakes and mountains.St Wolfgang is very picturesque and you can ride the boat that goes from town to town on the lake as well as the Schafberg cograil trainto the top of the mountain.

The Panorama Sounds of Music Tour from Salzburg includes a drive through the Salzburg Lake District including St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang. Most beautiful is in the eye of the beholder. As part of the half day SoM tour it was an exposure to the rural country side that we would not have seen. Our Panorama guide even stopped where we could view the Red Bull International Headquarters. Some will point out that you can take the local bus to these villages at a considerable cost savings.
Many other pleasant Tirolean valleys are just a several hour train ride away from Salzburg. We enjoyed our week in the PIllerseeTal where five villages are served by a free local bus. The train from Salzburg to Fieberbrunn passed a number of resort lake areas.
We just spent 2 weeks in Salzburg and did day trips to Zell Am See and St Gilgen and Bad Ischl. Absolutely beautiful scenery.
Short movie about Hallstatt; in German, but showing the beauty of that town:
