Krimmler Falls, Admont Abbey, MariaZell Pilgrimage Church.

Hello. I plan to make a off the beaten path journey from Innsbruck to Vienna, and hit these three attractions along the way. We will stay overnight somewhere along the way. Few questions. I read that that September 8 is a special religious holiday for the church so I assume there will be some sort of celebration.. Depending on how far along we make it from innsbruck, we will be there either the 7th or 8th. I was wondering if anyone knew whether this meant it would be insanely crowded with people coming or no... I would love to see the church but I don't need to see it that bad if its going to be super busy with people, you know.... Second question... Where might one stay along the route?

Thanks,
Denise

I am not aware that September 8th is a religious holiday in Austria (December 8th is one).

Hi. I was just wondering because in reading about the church I came across this on the MariaZell website:
"The feast of Our Lady of Mariazell is celebrated on September 13. Special ceremonies are also held at Mariazell on August 15 (Feast of the Assumption of Mary) and September 8 (Nativity of the Blessed Mother)"

Perhaps this is a minor event and won't affect our plans...

Hi Denise!

I had to respond when I saw Admont Abbey. I am obsessed with seeing the library at Admont Abbey even though I'm having to perform itinerary cartwheels to do so! It's so out of the way from the rest of the trip which is the biggest no no. But I just can't live with the regret.

Anyway, I had to commiserate. If it helps at all we are staying at JUFA Hotel Schloss Rothelstein in Admont.

Have a great time!
