I am American and speak only English. I would like to go to Krampuslauf in Graz on December 3rd. Has anyone traveled here during this event. Is it safe? I would appreciate any pearls of wisdom.
I am also considering train rides to Salzburg and Vienna but flying in and out of Graz. I prefer traveling off the beaten path and welcome any advice.

It is safe, but you should not be frightened by the figures and costumes.

There are several direct trains every day between all three cities Graz, Vienna and Salzburg. If you book your tickets online well in advance you can get the "Sparschiene" bargain price.
