It is three large tents which are free to the public until 18:00. Then only those who have reserved a table are allowed inside the tents. The tents serve beer (of course) and food, there is a music stage in each tent. Then after 18:00 visitors will be wearing Trachten, traditional Austrian dress. The point it to get drunk and sing, I think. You will definitely hear Sweet Caroline.

There are also stands selling food, wine and beer outside of the tents, as well as Trachten and other items. Again, these areas are free to the public. There is a security checkpoint you must go through to enter the festival area. Once we went when it was raining and they made us keep our umbrellas by the entry. Otherwise, bags will be searched. There are a few places to sit or stand to eat food. You can also find roaming brass bands playing songs everyone knows the words to.

The overall footprint of the festival is very small, but it feels large when you are inside. This festival has only been held in Vienna since 2009, so it doesn't have the history that you find in other places. Austrians love an excuse to drink and wear Tracht.

It is also a popular song at rowdy Austrian apres-ski bars.

We don't drink but I do love the music. A sort of a wish would be to hear the old standards being played there by Die Lauser - I love modern Schlager played by men in kilts.

(not so sure about Sweet Caroline)
