K & T Boardinghouse in Vienna - Is This Legit?

I just booked a room at K & T Boardinghouse on Booking dot com. I used my credit card with the option to pay at the property. I received a confirmation from booking, but on the booking site there was a message supposedly from K & T that they need to confirm my credit card. When I followed the link it took me to a page from my-bookings.cc with the reservation, and it seems they want me to put the CC information in again. I’m naturally suspicious, I’m a retired fraud investigator, so I sent K & T a message on WhatsApp plus checked on booking which shows my reservation is confirmed. Has anyone ever experienced this before? In case anyone is wondering why I didn’t book directly, the cancellation terms were better on booking.

Yes, quite a few people of gotten emails like that, and they were not legit. You were right to question it.

Scam. There are a couple of threads here - I also got one, as did Jean and some others. I think I had read about it on here, so replied I would not be clicking through on any links or reconfirming and that it was ok if they needed to cancel my booking. 🤣 I had a swift apology reply from the real hotel…… All was through the app.

My booking.com account recently had a warning about this as I started looking. (I don’t see it now.)

Thanks to you both. I just sent them a message telling them that booking has my CC information and I wouldn’t be providing it otherwise. I’ll see what happens next.

Good catch on the fraud, Andrea. Yikes, so much to watch out for. However thumbs up on the K&T Boardinghouse is for real. I stayed there the first week of November and really liked it and its location. The owner is very nice.

Lyndash, I’m happy to hear you liked staying there. We stayed there in 2014, but things can change over time .

I got a message from K & T confirming I shouldn’t click on the link. Thanks again everyone. We should all be suspicious when it comes to things like this.
