Julius Meinl Vienna

Just to set the record straight, an admission: I am a coffee snob. Snob may be too strong a word, but I like what I like. In Vienna several years ago, I stumbled upon Julius Meinl “Italienischer Espresso” whole beans. I bought a couple of bags and brought it home. I really liked it.

After finishing it, I checked various web sites, and although Meinl sells coffee on the web, they do not offer this selection. I wrote the store several times, but received no reply.

I was in Vienna last December, and I bought six liter bags and brought them back. I just finished bag five.

Any ideas out there on how I can make a connection and order directly? This flying from ORD to VIE to pick up a few bags of “Joe” is quite difficult for an old buzzard such as I. Then there is explaining the airfare cost to the Warden …..

None. For the past three years at least, it is only sold in the store and not offered on line. It is a dark combination of Arabica and Robusta

Yes, that is it!! The store charged €32 per kilo. This is €49, but cheaper than airfare.

You are amazing, finding that. Thank You!!!

Tried to buy some. The checkout page states:
"Please consider that we only deliver our products to Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic."

Maybe you have a local imported foods store that can order it for you.

Quote from an Austrian newspaper:

In April, import prices for unroasted coffee beans were 53.1 percent higher than a year earlier. Among them, imports of green coffee from the Americas rose by 61.8 percent, from Asia and other regions by 43.8 percent, and from Africa by 23.2 percent.

Emily, yes you can help. The next time that you are in Julius Meinl am Graben, woukld you see if you can get an email from the store so I can contact them and order coffee directly from them? I have tried and all I can get is a corporate customer service address. I have written them twice, but never received a reply.

Thank you!,

Joe

Thank you ever so much. I am going to Ireland mid-September and considered flying from Dublin to Vienna, buying coffee, then flying back to Dublin the next day.

Emily, thank you for the kind offer, but disregard stopping at the store. They finally replied to me. Short answer: They will not ship to the U.S. from the store.

Guess I have to figure a trip to Vienna in the near future
