"Issues" - train from Munich to Vienna

We're trying to book a train for April 26 from Munich to Vienna, hopefully arriving fairly early in the afternoon. I see notices on the DB Navigator site indicating that some of the RJ routes (with no transfers) may be cancelled or have their connection threatened. Probably the best option (RE,ICE) has a transfer in Plattling of 7 minutes. Another (M,WB) has a transfer in Salzburg of 11 minutes, but I can't find any price for it, savings or standard (and one probably needs more transfer time in Salzburg anyway). We will, of course, have luggage and aren't sprinters any more. Is 7 minutes doable? I assume I'm right to not try to book one of the problem RJ routes.

Thank you, Sam. That sounds great. However, I am not sure I understand. I guess I expect to have to add Westbahn to Meridian to get a total one way ticket price. My husband and I want to go from Munich to Vienna, just one way. We are both over 60. For two non-promotion tickets, is it (26,49 times 2) or 31,40 or something else? And these prices are for non-Europeans also? This seems like a too good to be true. I'm confused.

Here's what I would do. I would buy a Bayern ticket for 28 euro (that's 14 Euros for each of you) to travel on the regional train from Munich to Salzburg. In Salzburg, I would hop on a Westbahn train where you can just buy your tickets on board. These trains runs every hour. Westbahn is also now offering a special ticket for those ages 60 and above for 17 euro from Salzburg to Vienna. The special expires on March 26, but will be extended. I would check the website later and just buy that ticket online to save you some additional money.

Actually, the Guten Tag ticket bought directly from Meridian vending machine is 26 euro for 2. The Tariff-Aktiv tickets (60 and above) are only sold through tobacco shops and are only good from Monday to Thursday.
There may be some issues with weekend track work on the Munich-Salzburg line.

The Bayern ticket sounds great, as does the Guten Tag. I'm wondering if the potential track work is the reason there is a caution shown on the RJ routes early Sunday morning on the db.de/en website. The other routes don't have the caution, nor does the RJ on Monday. Do RJ trains use some different tracks at some point? I'm concerned, of course, but really don't want to postpone the trip until Monday so think we will take a chance (keeping an eye on the website and asking at the Munich station when we first arrive). What I would like to do is plan for the 6:55 train for the maximum amount of time in Vienna, and I see we can buy the Salzburg to Vienna ticket on board assuming we make the 11 minute transfer successfully and since it doesn't look like the 60+ fare will be available anyway. Thank you both. I really appreciate all the help.
