A friend and I did the Salt mine in the morning followed by Eagle's Nest one day. We caught the bus to/from Salzburg -- there is a stop for the salt mine as the bus heads to Berchtesgaden. We walked to the bus station and then headed to Eagle's nest. I think you can probably make it work.
