Is Seehotel Gruener Baum in Hallstatt worth it?

Looking for help on Hallstatt hotels. My husband and I are going on a 10th anniversary trip to Austria in October. We will be in Hallstatt for two nights, one of which being our actual 10th anniversary. Leaning towards Seehotel Gruener Baum which looks lovely with the large decks overlooking the lake. Also considering Braugastof Lobisser which is a much lower price per night. Also emailed Pension Sarstein but they cannot commit to a 2-night stay until September. I am willing to pay the money if Gruener Baum is worth it, and am leaning that way, but would like some opinions.
Thanks for your help!

Very nice Hotel on the water in the heart of the old town,we have had dinner there and stayed up the road at Gasthof Zauner. You could access the town of St Wolfgang located on Lake Wolfgang, more to do than Hallstatt but Hallstatt has that special charm.

Jenni,

My wife and I will be staying four nights in an apartment with views overlooking Hallstatt lake in early June. It will be our first time there as well. We booked through homeaway.com. I found the following website with good information about what to do in the Hallstatt area. http://www.dachstein-salzkammergut.com/en. We are planning to do some hiking in the mountains, visit the salt mines and in general relax. We will likely try the restaurant in Seehotel Gruener Baum so I'd be happy to report after our visit.

Our My Way Alpine tour stayed there. I had a lovely room, and every room I saw was lovely, though they differed in size and furnishings. One couple on the tour stayed in a room with a large balcony overlooking the lake. The entire tour group met there for an impromptu party.

We stayed only the one night. I wish it had been longer. The breakfast was especially notable for its wide selection. I recall the decks overlooking the lake were so peaceful in the early morning. I do not know about value as it was part of the tour, but my stay there was certainly enjoyable.

Jenni,

That's a very nice hotel and IMO it would be a perfect place to splurge for a 10th anniversary, especially if you book a room with a lake view. I quite enjoyed the food in the restaurant (although it was a bit on the pricey side).

Have stayed there and eaten there also. Would do so again in a heart beat. Try to get a room with a lake view. Great place for anniversary celebration.

Definitely book the lake view - if you can't get it at Grüner Baum I'd go for a lake view at another place up on the hill. The whole appeal of this place is the wonderful view, especially at night if you are far up enough, all you can see is lake, sky and mountains. It's magic.

Gasthof Simony is right next door to Grüner Baum and also has some lake view rooms. It's a bit old and creaky, but nicely maintained and I found it to be very comfortable.
