Hello,
I will be in Innsbruck in July and I'm hoping someone could help with our plans. My husband will be there for business and my daughter (age 14) and I will be exploring the area. Any places we most go? Thank you!
You are fortunate to be going to Innsbruck. I once lived there when going to college. The city has huge mountains on each side of it with valley in between. Its vistas are absolutely breathtaking.
You've got the old town to investigate and there are a number of museums downtown. Ther is also a zoo and some castles to see.
We like to ride up the mountain and then take a chairlift to the top.
Down the valley 12 miles is the Swarovski crystal factory and it can be reached by bus.
We usually have a rental car, and love to get up on the mountainside going from village to village. We also love to drive over to Zell-am-See and take the Grossglockner High Alpine Highway over the mountain coming into Northern Italy. The scenery on this excursion the most beautiful I've ever seen in this world.
The old town pedestrian zone.
The Norkettenbahn.
Cathedral St. James
Innsbruck Hofburg
Schloss Ambras
Wow, this is so helpful! Thanks so much!
Have a coffee at the bar of the Motel One Hotel at the main station with a wonderful panoramic view over Innsbruck.
Visit the Bergisel ski jump.
Board bus #6 to Igls, a mountain village within city borders, and have lunch at Aegidihof.
Take the 590 bus to Mieders for the toboggan run. Better yet, take the tram all the way to Fulpmes then 590 bus back to Mieders. Both rides should be free under the Innsbruck card.

Also, day trip to Seefeld. Zugspitz is also do-able as a day trip.
