Innsbruck Christmas Market

Has anyone been to to the Christmas market in Innsbruck? We will be there in the middle of December and hope to hear some positive reports about it.
Thanks - Bill

Innsbruck's Christmas market is small and quaint and spreads out to several streets. If you start your visit in Allstadt at the Goldenes Dachl, you will be able to meander to the adjoining streets. There is a market along the “Fairy Tale and Giants‘ Alley” which runs into the market that starts at the large Christmas tree in front of the Goldenes Dachl. From here you can walk down streets and alleyways that have lighting displays depicting crystal chandeliers and large pieces of crystal--beautiful. My blogs have pictures and a description of this lovely market. If you would like to see my blog, send me a personal message. Enjoy the ambiance and warmth of this special market.

Hi William,

Innsbruck actually has a few different markets. We visited at this time in 2010 and 2013. LOVED it! If the Christmas atmosphere here doesn't put you in the holiday mood, nothing will. Not only is the old town beautiful all decorated with lights, trees, etc., then add the snow covered alpine backdrop, the endless stalls selling ornaments, etc., the smell of roasting chestnuts, food, hot mulled wine, outdoor sitting and standing tables all make for a perfect experience. We have photo's at:

If you have time, take the Nordkettenbahn trip (funicular/cable cars) right from outside the old town basically across from the Kongress.

Enjoy! We'd do it again in a minute!
